Proponent withdraws articles 5 and 6

STONEHAM, MA - It appears as if one of the town's problems has been done away with, for the moment at least, with the withdrawal of Annual Town Meeting articles 5 and 6.
The articles, which deal with the rezoning of the town to allow for a "professional office district," was withdrawn by its proponent, Stephen Migliorini of 5 Sheffield Road.
Residents who appeared at the Planning Board expressed their concerns and their strong opposition to the changes that the articles would have brought to the town and, at Tuesday's Board of Selectmen meeting, said the fact that the articles will still appear on the warrant on May 7, made them nervous.
Town Administrator Jeffrey Nutting explained that, due to the unfavorable review of the articles by the Planning Board and the withdrawal by the applicant, the possibility of the professional office district in the town, for the time being, is highly unlikely.
Town Counsel William Solomon told those in attendance that, due to the withdrawal, such articles could not appear again on a town meeting warrant for two years unless "significant changes" were made to them. For all intents and purposes, he said, the zoning for the purpose expressed in those articles would not be allowed for at least the two years.
