STONEHM, MA - A Medford man who was wanted for two warrants for armed robbery was apprehended last Thursday thanks to the quick thinking and close knit teamwork of Stoneham and area police departments.
Brian Silck, 25, originally from Stoneham and now a resident of Medford was arrested after an hour-long pursuit which was led by Officer Laurence Rotondi of the Stoneham Police Department and involved Woburn, state and state K-9 units.
Silck was recognized by Officer Rotondi at approximately 11:35 a.m. on Thursday and, according to police reports, fled on foot after making eye contact with the officer.Police chased the suspect and finally caught up to him near a Forest Street residence.
"It worked out well," Stoneham Police Lt. Joseph DelRossi said. "No one was hurt and the bad guy- who was a really bad guy- was arrested."
Police Lt. Gregory O'Keefe told the Independent that Silck had been arrested in Stoneham on multiple occasions, the last time in 1992.
Silck's warrants stemmed from a May 18 armed robbery in Melrose and for unarmed robbery and assault with intent to rob in connection with an incident which occurred in Andover on May 13.
He was arraigned on the Melrose charges on Friday at Malden District Court and was later transferred to Lawrence District Court where he was arraigned on the Andover charges.
Part of the credit for the arrest is given to area task force meeting which show officers how to work in conjunction with other police departments and allow communities to share information on wanted criminals.
