STONEHAM, MA - Two robbers hit the Eastern Bank at the 103 Main St. Redstone Shopping Mall at 5:38 p.m. on Thursday, July 8.

Two suspects are at large.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation Robbery Task Force out of Boston is handling the case, and per the bureau policy the amount stolen will not be released while the investigation is ongoing.

According to a report compiled by Stoneham Police Detective George Alger, who was first on the scene, a woman robbed the bank, and a young man drove the getaway car.

The woman is described in the Stoneham Police report as white, between 30 to 40 years of age, 5'1" to 5'4", with a long face and a medium to heavy build.

At the time of the robbery, according to Alger's information, the suspect was wearing a baseball cap, sunglasses with white rims, a flannel shirt, a turtleneck pulled up to her chin, brown work boots and "bulky type" clothes.

She approached the teller, showed a gun, and said, "Put all the money in the bag...Nobody move...Stay quiet," and she was out of the building in no more than one minute, according to information compiled by Alger.

The driver of the getaway car is described in the Stoneham Police report as young, possibly between the ages of 18 and 22. He reportedly had brown hair and a white tee-shirt at the time of the robbery and appeared to be around six feet tall.

According to the police, the getaway car, which was stolen out of Boston, was recovered behind Blockbuster Video at 221 Main Street between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The FBI took the vehicle as evidence.

Stoneham Police Lt. Joseph DelRossi said he believes this job wasn't a onetime affair for the suspects.

"The whole thing took only one minute," DelRossi said.
