Fatal car crash on Route 93

STONEHAM, MA - Near 4 a.m. on the morning of Aug. 30 Arnaldo Cruz, 18, of 346 John Drive in Brockton was thrown from his car on Route 93 in Stoneham and killed.
Cruz was driving a 1989 Lincoln Mark 7 northbound on Route 93 when, according to the State Police, the car went off the road, down an embankment, back up onto the road, and flipped over.
Cruz was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. State Police said speed may have been a factor. And, according to police, Cruz was not wearing his seat belt. Police said the seat belt could have saved Cruz's life.
The State Police Crash Analysis Team assisted State Police from the Medford barracks at the scene. Stoneham Police and Fire provided further support.
No other vehicles or people were involved in the accident. The reason why Cruz went off the road is unknown as of press time.
