STONEHAM, MA - Boston Regional bids close in two weeks, Nixon Lane residents are happy, and the Catholic Church may get a great return on an old investment.

The court will rule on the sole offer from Gutierrez Company on Oct. 29. Representatives of Gutierrez have told the town the company would like to close on the property by mid-December.
Still no word on who or what will occupy the 40-plus acre site.

The site plan for Dale Halchek's proposed redevelopment of 104 Main Street was denied.
Selectmen cited safety concerns of Nixon Lane abutters and personal experience at the dangerous intersection across from Redstone.

The town is seriously considering buying a 4.3-acre piece of land off Broadway Street from the Archdiocese.
Town Administrator Jeff Nutting said the land could be used for soccer fields and/or to help alleviate drainage problems along Mayflower Drive.
Other citizens question the cost. Rumors have the price as high as $1.6 million; the town will soon conduct an official appraisal, Nutting said.
In the 1940s the land was given to the Catholic Church for $1.
