STONEHAM, MA - In two separate fights on Friday night Stoneham youths were beaten so badly they had to be rushed to the hospital.

Alex Aniello, 18, of 69 Forest St. in Stoneham was taken to Winchester Hospital after Reading teens allegedly kicked him in the face, breaking his jaw, outside a party on Warren Street in Reading around 9:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, on the Middle School grounds in Stoneham, a 14-year-old Stoneham boy was beaten in a bloody fist fight by a Medford teen. The Stoneham youth was taken to Winchester Hospital around 8:15 p.m.

Reading police have brought charges against four teens in connection with the Reading incident, an alleged assault and battery with a deadly weapon (shod feet).

Stoneham police are waiting to see if the parents of the 14-year-old Stoneham boy bring charges of simple assault; the Medford suspect has been identified.

The Reading police are still investigating what led to the Friday night violence. The fight, according to police, erupted after a group including Reading and Stoneham teens arrived at an unchaperoned party on Warren Street in Reading.

Reading teens at the party told the group to leave and allegedly kicked Aniello's car. Then the fight broke out. According to police, one Reading teen knocked Aniello down and then one or more joined in kicking him.

Reading police have charged an 18-year-old Reading resident with assault and battery with a deadly weapon. A 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, both from Reading, were also arrested and charged with malicious destruction of property over $250, for allegedly kicking and damaging the body of the car. Reading police have also summoned a fourth Reading teen to Woburn District Court on charges of malicious destruction of property. The youths have been arraigned throughout the week in Woburn.

Police requested the names of the suspects remain private until the investigation is complete.

"We are still investigating the matter," said Reading Police Lt. Kevin Patterson.

The fight in Stoneham was a one on one affair, according to the Stoneham police. Police said that there were two groups of kids (Stoneham and Medford), but only two individuals fought.

"It was a simple assault with no witnesses so we couldn't make an arrest," said Stoneham Police Detective John Leccese.

Stoneham police were able to locate the group of Medford teens traveling with the one allegedly involved in the fight. Police identified the alleged offender with the help of the victim. But police cannot act unless the youth's family brings charges.
