STONEHAM, MA - The Gutierrez Company, present holders of the former Boston Regional Medical Center, have taken a positive first step with the 40-acre site in announcing that Lahey Clinic will be leasing a portion of the building.

The announcement was made Tuesday afternoon by officials from Lahey Clinic and The Gutierrez Co., both based in Burlington.

"Lahey is pleased to be part of this development project and looks forward to a mutually beneficial partnership with the citizens of Stoneham," David M. Barrett, M.D., DEO, of Lahey Clinic said this week.

Barrett said Lahey is currently evaluating options for use of the property.

The Gutierrez Co. successfully bid on the property through a recent auction held by the Federal Bankruptcy Court in Boston.

The company plans to explore uses for the balance of the site in cooperation with Stoneham officials.

"We see many great possibilities," commented Arturo J. Gutierrez, president of the Gutierrez Company.

"We are looking forward to discussing a range of mixed use opportunities with the Town of Stoneham to ensure that whatever is built represents the best interests of everyone,: Gutierrez said.

Lahey clinic is a multi-specialty, integrated healthcare system with a world-class medical center located off Mall Road in Burlington with primary care and specialty practices in 33 communities throughout eastern Massachusetts.

The Guttierrez Company was established nearly 20 years ago as a full-service real estate development firm.

Over that time, the company has earned a reputation of quality and integrity, creating more than 6.5 million square feet of diverse real estate throughout Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire.

Recent or ongoing Gutierrez built-to-suit projects including the new Nokia Telecommunications and Open Market buildings as part of Burlington Office Park II off South Bedford Street in Burlington.

Established projects include Burlington Office Park as well as Technology Park and Middlesex Technology Center in Billerica.
