STONEHAM, MA - A young criminal brandishing a knife robbed the Stoneham Gulf gas station at 86 Main St. at 7:36 p.m. Jan. 17.

The suspect fled across the street to the Savings Bank parking lot and sped off with a second individual in what the gas station attendant identified as a blue, 1980s model Chevy Monte Carlo with a sky blue stripe on the side and a vinyl roof. The attendant was not positive of the color, however, due to the dark. The attendant told police that the suspects drove north on Main Street at a high rate of speed with their headlights off.

Detective John Leccese is leading the investigation by the Stoneham Police.

According to the police report, the suspect was 5' 2" with feminine features, small hands and blond hair. The suspect was wearing a silk stocking over his or her head, but it fit loosely, allowing the gas station attendant to get a "pretty good look," as the report reads. A composite sketch of the suspect has been drafted (see above).

The sex of the robber is not known. The suspect was wearing a waist-length off white jacket and off white pants and appeared to be in his or her teens to early 20s. Also, the suspect smelled of perfume, according to the attendant.

The attendant told police that the suspect entered the gas station office while the attendant was sitting at his desk. The suspect wielded a six to eight inch folding knife in his or her right hand and said, "Give me all the money."

The attendant gave the robber the cash in the register. Police did not disclose the amount. The investigation is ongoing.
