Town Election 2000 update
Published on March 1st, 2000
STONEHAM, MA - Rumors of a write-in campaign to elect John DeGeorge to the Board of Selectmen are circulating.
DeGeorge says he does not want to be a selectman and has chosen not to run for office, but if elected, he said he would accept the post.
Incumbents Cosmo Ciccarello and Anthony Kennedy and challengers Gordon Perks and Robert Sweeney have pulled papers and had their signatures certified to get their names on the April 4, 2000, Town Election ballot.
But, according to Town Clerk John Hanright, there is space on the ballots for voters to write in whomever they want. If a write-in candidate were to get enough votes, he would be elected.
