Dairy Mart owner foils robbery attempt

STONEHAM, MA - Sadat Khen foiled an armed robbery of his 41 Main Street Dairy Mart, chasing off an armed assailant and making twenty bucks in the process.
The attempted robbery took place around 11 p.m. on Sunday, June 18.
"You don't go when it's not your time," Khen said. He said he was not afraid, more upset that he had to deal with such an injustice.
The would-be robber placed some chips and a Snapple on the counter and handed Khen $20. As Khen took the money, the suspect drew a silver handgun and demanded money from the cash register.
Khen lunged at the suspect, who backed up and fled as Khen chased him out of the store. The culprit, a black male around 5'10'', left his chips, Snapple and $20 behind.
Flash back about ten minutes earlier: Khen observes a suspicious white male around 5'6" who appears to be casing the store. After the man leaves, Khen watches the character get into a brown or maroon Jeep Grand Cherokee, license plate 3683LX. The suspect drives across the street to a Texaco Station. Khen goes back to work, and a black male approaches the counter with chips and Snapple.
Flash forward: The black guy hops in the car with the white guy, and they take off, not knowing Khen has their plate.
Stoneham Police ran the plate and interviewed the car's owner, a resident of Westwood. The car was not reported stolen and, according to Stoneham Police, the owner asked for a lawyer before answering police questions.
A convenient store in Newton was robbed of around $200 earlier in the evening of June 18 in the same method attempted at the Dairy Mart.
Stoneham, Newton and Westwood Police are working together on the investigation.
"I have all my belief in the police; they will find the robbers," Khen said.
