Feeding the hungry on thanksgiving
Published on November 15th, 2000
STONEHAM, MA - Bob and Carol Sweeney of Pleasant Street, in cooperation with Bunker Hill Post No. 26, The American Legion, are preparing Thanksgiving meals for people in need in Stoneham and Charlestown.
The Charlestown meal will be served at the Legion Hall at 23 Adams Street on Nov. 23. On this day, meals will be delivered to elderly, needy or shut-in residents of Stoneham who have requested a dinner.
Anyone who is in need or who knows someone who could use a good meal, call Bob or Carol at (781) 279-4246 — the Blue Parrot Cafe on Main Street Stoneham.
Also anyone who wants to volunteer to help prepare (the night before), serve or deliver meals should call the Sweeneys as soon as possible. This is the ninth year of the Sweeneys' Thanksgiving meal. Bob urges everyone to become a part of this local Thanksgiving tradition.
