STONEHAM, MA - St. Patrick Parish of Central Street is moving forward with plans to expand its church, school and parish center.

The parish has raised $3.5 million dollars and counting in parishioner pledges.

Church officials and parishioners met at the church at an open meeting on Dec. 10 to discuss the next step. The group agreed that Father Bill Schmidt should contact the Archdiocese of Boston for permission to commission architect Angelo Petrozelli to draft technical drawings. The drawing will cost around $150,000 Petrozelli estimated. After the drawings are complete and paid for, they become the property of St. Pat’s. Any contractor hired will have those drawings as a guide.

Preparation of the drawings will take four to five months. Meanwhile the church is still excepting pledges toward the $5.1 million total price tag. Call 438-0960 with questions or to donate.
