STONEHAM, MA - Can you spell “isthmus”? How about “hemidemisemiquaver”? Come find out at Stoneham’s Sixth Annual Spelling Bee, sponsored by the Stoneham Business and Community Educational Foundation. You can donate towards a team or make your own team of four people for a fun-filled, exciting battle of words against other teams of local businesses and community members. Or just come to cheer on the teams.

The Spelling Bee will be held at the Town Hall on Friday, March 30, at 7:30 p.m. The Spellmaster this year will be former Town Clerk, Annamae Arsenault. Selectman Al Conti and Town Administrator Jeffrey Nutting will serve as judges. In addition to the Bee, the festivities that night will include refreshments and a raffle of items that have been donated from local businesses. The entry price for a team is $200 or you can also make donations to the Bee in any amount.

All proceeds benefit education in the town of Stoneham through the Stoneham Business and Community Educational Foundation (SBCEF), a non-profit organization that funds educational programs for the youth of Stoneham. Most recently, the SBCEF awarded seven grants totaling $5,000.

If you have any questions about the Spelling Bee or SBCEF, please call Marie Christie at (781) 438-9420. Team entries can be mailed to SBCEF, P.O. Box 408, Stone-ham, MA 02180. Come for a night of fun and perhaps learn a new word or two.
