STONEHAM, MA - The search continues for a person to fill the corner office vacated last March by former Town Administrator Jeffrey Nutting.
The Search Committee, comprised of Stoneham residents Ralph Barile, Jeanne Craigie, Janice Houghton, Carroll Sheehan, and Cheryl Walsh, reviewed resumes and conducted interviews in response to an advertisement for the position, and narrowed the field to five candidates. The Selectmen, however, added another seven names to that list and commenced their interviews this week.
Of the twelve candidates selected, one has since withdrawn his name for consideration and three others have not yet been reached for interview scheduling.
Four of the candidates faced the inquisitive Selectmen on Monday night. The meeting was held in the Town Hall conference room and was open to the public. The next two interview sessions are scheduled for Tuesday, June 19 and Wednesday, June 20. These meetings are also scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Town Hall conference room.
Monday night's candidates were Stoneham resident Richard Gregorio, Bedford resident David Owen, Springfield resident Robert Markel and Wakefield resident Joseph Nardella. A simple majority vote of the Board of Selectmen will determine who is the right person for the job. In the meantime, Town Accountant Ron Florino is keeping the town on track as he continues to work in the capacity of acting Town Administrator.
