Town budget to be unveiled

STONEHAM, MA - Town Administrator David Berry will unveil his balanced budget to the Board of Selectmen at the Feb. 12 Selectmen’s meeting.
The TA is required by town law to present a balanced budget 75 days prior to the May 6 Annual Town Meeting. The budget is a starting point. Changes may be made based on the input of Selectmen, the Finance Board, department heads, other town officials and citizens.
At the Annual Town Meeting Selectmen will present the results of months of negotiation and compromise, usually but not necessarily a balanced budget. Citizens have the final word on Town Meeting floor, but the voters rarely reject a balanced budget, deferring to the recommendations of town officials.
