STONEHAM, MA - A rash of vandalism that left an unfortunate smattering of Stoneham residents with shattered windshields and damaged motor vehicles may have been part of a four town mayhem-spree, according to police reports.

Six motor vehicles parked on Girard Road, North Street, Forest Street, DeWitt Road, and Virginia Lane were allegedly damaged during the early morning hours of Friday, August 30.

The first reported incident was reported to Stoneham Police by a Virginia Lane resident at approximately 2:56 a.m., and may have been one of forty cars allegedly damaged by a pair of Malden women on a baseball bat-wielding joyride of destruction.

Tomeka Clark, 22, and Alicie Ebert, 21, were both charged with three counts of malicious destruction of property by the Medford Police after capturing the beefy women. Stoneham Police officials have yet to press formal charges against the duo, but vandalism charges could be forthcoming.

“Common sense would dictate that acts of vandalism in one specific area of town would indicate that the incidents were related,” said Stoneham Police Lt. Rick McCarthy. “We are looking over the arrest and investigation reports provided by the Medford Police, and we are in the process of deciding whether or not vandalism charges will be filed against the suspects.”

According to police reports, the two women, armed with a baseball bat and driving in a red Kia Sportage, allegedly Carlton Fisk-ed between 25-40 cars parked on the streets of Stoneham, Wakefield, Medford and Reading.

A witness allegedly saw Ebert smash the windshield of Dodge Neon in Medford around 3:30 a.m. The witness called Medford Police after the pair of aspiring windshield sluggers left the scene, but the pair inexplicably returned to the scene minutes later. The only difference– a Medford police officer was investigating the scene of vandalism.

The Medford officer forced the suspects to pull over, and told the officer that their reason for the sophomoric display was that “we felt like causing trouble”, according to documents filed at Somerville District Court.

An aluminum baseball bat bathed in broken glass was allegedly recovered from the backseat of the sports utility vehicle registered to Ebert. The pair were arrested at the scene, and, when questioned if they had been in Stoneham, Reading and Wakefield, answered “Yeah, something like that.”

The pair were arraigned at Somerville District Court on Friday with wide grins on their faces, but may be paying a steep future price for their step to the vandalism plate.

“If enough evidence is present, we will certainly be charging them with malicious destruction of property,” said McCarthy. “We’re working with the Medford PD.

The pair were released on $500 bail, and pled not guilty to the vandalism charged levied against them.
