STONEHAM, MA - A pair of suspected heroin addicts were arrested last Tuesday after attempting to steal hundreds of dollars in raw meat from Stop and Shop, and then reportedly attempting to peddle the meat to area restaurants.

According to Stoneham Police, area departments had been made aware of a pair of suspects who were stealing meat from local supermarkets, and then attempting to sell the meat to local restaurants at a largely-reduced price.

Jason M. Cucinotti, age 32, of 2 Dorris Ave., North Billerica, and Jason K. Hull, age 26, of 141 Bellevue Street, Lowell, were arrested after being nabbed shoplifting in the area of Stop and Shop at 3:59 p.m. The suspects were driving around in a stolen 1993 Honda Accord, and Stoneham Police arrested Hull while he reportedly waited in the getaway Accord for Cucinotti.

Local police weren't familiar with Cucinotti, and he managed to elude capture and travel by foot on Main Street headed northbound toward Reading. A pair of Woburn detectives were en route to Stoneham to assist in the arrest, spotted Cucinotti with his array of stolen meats in tow, and arrested him on Main Street a short time later. Hull was charged with shoplifting, illegal possession of a hypodermic needle, and larceny of a motor vehicle, while Cucinotti was charged with shoplifting and larceny of a motor vehicle. Officers at the scene include Henehan, Heller, Apalakis, Carroll, McKinnon and Nims.
