Stoneham Police are investigating a pair of unarmed robberies over the past week that were committed under very similar circumstances.

According to Stoneham, a twenty-something suspect with a small build (5-6, 130 pounds and slender) robbed both the Mobil Station on Montvale Ave. and Citizens Bank on Main Street last week.

Stoneham Police aren’t ready to treat the cases as related, but they couldn’t deny the similarities in both crimes.

"The note was the same, there were similar descriptions for the suspects, so there’s no denying a possible connection," said a Stoneham Police source.

According to the police report, the suspect waited in line at Citizen Bank located inside Stop and Shop at approximately 6:05 p.m. last Wednesday night, then handed a note to the teller, stating "GIVE ME THE MONEY". Suspect described as a white male, 5'6".130-140 lbs, short blondish/brown hair in his early to mid twenties. suspect was wearing a ball cap backward, dark-rimmed sunglasses, short sleeved button shirt, shorts and low top sneakers. No weapon shown or implied and no motor vehicle was seen as the suspect fled the supermarket with an undisclosed amount of cash from the bank.

The gas station robbery occurred early last Tuesday morning at 12:11 a.m. as a — guess what -- 5-6., 130-140 pound suspect with a backwards baseball cap and wearing a goalie-style hockey mask entered the gas station and handed the clerk a note that said "GIVE ME THE MONEY."

The suspect then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash, never showed a weapon during the incident, and then fled from the scene.

Stoneham Police found $80 in cash near the scene and believe the suspect fled in a vehicle, but don’t have any description on the getaway car.

Stoneham Police are currently investigating the cases, and ask for anyone with information to contact Det. Ed Peek at 781-438-1215 ext 3133. More information on the robbery can be found at www.massmostwanted.org.
