Heroin drug bust ends near the Fellsway

STONEHAM, MA - Diligent police work by the Stoneham narcotics unit led to the arrests of three men in connection with a drug deal that reportedly took place in the area of Marble Street and South Marble Street.

According to Stoneham Police reports, police came upon a trio of men in vehicles on Marble Street were engaged in suspicious activity early Monday evening. Stoneham Police reported to the scene, and the two suspects fled off in different directions with Davis and Lang eventually being pulled over in the area of Ravine Road. Upon searching the suspects, Stoneham Police found heroin on their persons and charged them with illegal possession of a Class A substance (heroin).

Martinez was pulled over near the Fellsway in the area of the Stone Zoo, and Stoneham Police reportedly recovered three baggies of heroin in the suspect’s mouth — as well as paraphernalia and equipment consistent with drug dealing. According to Stoneham Police sources, Martinez’s car has been impounded and police believe, as a result of work by the Wilmington K-9 Unit as well as their own investigation, there may be more as-of-yet uncovered heroin hidden within the car.

“This was a really nice job done by the Narcotics Unit,” said Stoneham Police Lt. Rick McCarthy. “They noticed something out of the ordinary during a routine patrol, and it’s turning into a pretty good arrest.”

Joshua Davis, age 24, of 34 Range Road, Loudon NH, and Donald Lang, age 42, of 9 Tobano Road, Derry, NH, were arrested for illegal possession of a Class A substance, conspiracy to violate the controlled substance law, being present where heroin was being kept and illegal possession of a hypodermic needle at 7:26 p.m.

Wellington N. Martinez, age 24, of 26 Annunciation Road, #2046, Roxbury, was arrested in the area of the Fellsway at 7:19 p.m. for manufacturing a Class A substance, illegal possession of a Class A substance with intent to distribute and conspiracy to violate the controlled substance laws. The arrest was made by Officer Norton, Ponzo, DiCarlo and Thistle.
