Police: Marijuana plants found at Town Taxi

STONEHAM, MA - The manager and head dispatcher of Stoneham's Town Taxi was arrested Monday afternoon after he reportedly was caught growing marijuana plants at the 166 William Street home of the taxi business, according to Stoneham Police reports.
Robert Pacey Jr. age 46, of 895 Main Street, Woburn, was arrested at the 166 William Street home of the taxi service after Stoneham Police confiscated 20 marijuana plants allegedly growing in the dispatch area and in the area where the taxi cabs were stored during idle moments. Pacey Jr., the individual responsible for the premises, was charged with illegal manufacturing of a class D substance, and police submitted that the full-grown plants could have been worth as much as $20,000 on the street.
"You can get about a pound of marijuana out of a full-grown plant, and you can get about $1000 per pound, so that's a pretty hefty amount," said a Stoneham Police source. "We got a tip about the plants that led directly to the arrest."
According to Stoneham Police, the aforementioned tip came within the last week and the Stoneham Drug Unit patrolled the area and spotted the psychotropic plants in full view from the neighboring Stop and Shop supermarket site. A search warrant was obtained from Woburn District Court on Monday morning, and the Stoneham Drug Unit made the arrest on Monday evening.
The arrest was the first of its kind in Stoneham in a couple of years, as a Franklin Street woman was arrested for growing a pair of marijuana plants in a common gardening area used by neighbors - with this instead taking place at the Stoneham area of business.
"You could see the plants in plain view from the Stop and Shop parking lot and the railroad tracks, and there really wasn't even an attempt to hide it from anyone," said the Stoneham Police source. "Anyone passing through could have had very easy access to the plants."
