STONEHAM, MA -In a historic Election for both the State of Massachusetts and the Town of Stoneham, Democrat challenger Deval Patrick becomes the first African-American Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts - a vote that Patrick carried through much of Massachusetts including Stoneham.
Patrick carried all but the 6th Precinct in Stoneham, and totalled 4,387 votes. Kerry Healey picked up 3.736 votes in a 65 percent (9,148 total votes) voter turnout rate in Stoneham - the largest voter turn-out since the 2004 Presidential Election.
"Hopefully this will start a trend in Stoneham, with everything that's going on both nationally and locally," said a tired but excited Town Clerk John Hanright.
