STONEHAM, MA - A woman wielding an illegal tazer stun gun and a man wielding a four-inch knife stopped traffic last Wednesday afternoon on William Street resulted in one arrest by Stoneham Police.

According to police reports, Laura Blair, age 17, of 13 Emerald Street, Wakefield, was arrested after a report that an off-duty officer had spotted a female with a "stun gun" in the area of Unicorn Golf Course at 5:03 p.m.

Stoneham Police reported to the scene and the female youth was arrested for assault by means of a dangerous weapon, illegal possession of a stun gun and being a disorderly person after she was reportedly spotted chasing a male victim around William Street and the Uniforn Golf Course parking lot with an illegal stun gun.

The incident allegedly stemmed from a drug deal gone bad, as Blair contended that the male party sold her a pair of pills he said were Vicodin for $80 cash.

The pills were not what they were purported to be, and resulted in the Wakefield teen chasing a Woburn man around the area of the Arnold House with an item deemed illegal in the State of Massachusetts.

"You put a couple of Double A batteries and you could take down an elephant with one of those things," said Stoneham Police Det. George Alger. "Obviously they could be of beneficial use in a case where a woman was being attacked by a 300-pound man, but this doesn't appear to be one of those instances."

According to Alger, Woburn Police were investigating the sale of the pills billed as Vicodin by the Woburn man and Blair was arraigned at Woburn District Court Thursday morning.
