STONEHAM, MA - A Stoneham brother and sister tandem were both arrested last week on drug charges by State Police, Middlesex DA and Stoneham Narcotics Unit officials after a lengthy investigation.

A three-month investigation by the Stoneham Narcotics Unit placed a large quantity of heavy duty drugs at the local residence, which sits just a short walk away from the Robin Hood Elementary School on Oak Street.

The bust took place last Thursday afternoon and significant quantities of heroin, cocaine and marijuana were recovered from the Alden Ave. home of the Kulunis family. The Alden Ave. residence is less than 200 feet away from the Robin Hood Elementary School

"Usually when you make a drug raid like this and you act on the warrant you're looking to uncover a large quantity of drugs," said a Stoneham Police source. "There wasn't the large score that they were hoping for when they acted on the warrant, but there was more than enough to make the arrests and keep this stuff away from the nearby school."

Hilary Kulunis, age 28, of 26 Alden Ave, Stoneham was arrested for illegal possession of a Class A substance (heroin) with intent to distribute, illegal possession of a Class substance (cocaine), illegal possession of a Class E substance and an illegal substance/school zone violation.

John Kulunis, age 23, of 26 Alden Ave., Stoneham, was arrested for illegal possession of a Class D substance (marijuana) and an illegal substance/school zone violation.

Nathan Torres, age 24, of 5 Brookfield Lane, Lawrence, was arrested for an outstanding warrant at the time of the drug bust in Stoneham.

All three were taken into custody by the State Police Units and were arraigned Friday afternoon at Woburn District Court. As of press time, Stoneham Police didn't have the exact amounts of the drugs removed from the Stoneham home and the State Police Narcotics Unit hadn't returned a phone call to their office.
